Nolan Painting Recognized as One of the 50 Most Community-Minded Employers in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
Philadelphia, Pa., July 20, 2023 – Nolan Painting has been named a 2023 honoree of The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia by Philadelphia Foundation, in partnership with Points of Light and local partners. The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia provides a standard for corporate citizenship and showcases how employers use their time, skills and resources to drive social impact in their communities and company.
“Being involved in the community has been a foundational part of our company’s identity since its inception” said Kevin J. Nolan, CEO at Nolan Painting. “We have been able to be more intentional with this commitment since the formation of our Nolan in the Neighborhood community initiative in 2015. We are honored to have these efforts recognized by the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia.”
Amongst other causes, Nolan Painting supports environmental organizations monetarily, with manpower, and with expertise about proper paint disposal. Paint needs to be disposed of in a specific, environmentally conscious way, though many are unaware of how to do this and may dispose of it improperly or store it for long periods of time in their homes. Nolan Painting attends a large race annually in February in Ambler, PA called the Frostbite Five Miler and collects old and unused paint from participants. Nolan Painting employees then determine whether it can be recycled and donated or disposed of properly. At the 2023 Frostbite Five Miler, Nolan Painting collected 187 cans of paint from participants, donating usable paint to Habitat for Humanity and properly disposing of the rest. Nolan Painting also participates in environmental cleanup events each year. This past spring, Nolan Painting employees participated in the Chester, Ridley, and Crum Creeks Watersheds Association streams cleanup. Nolan Painting incentivizes volunteering by offering employees Paid Time Off for their efforts.
The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honorees are private and public companies and other employers operating in the Philadelphia region. They have been selected based on four dimensions of their community engagement program:
- Investment of resources
- Integration across business functions
- Institutionalization through policies and system
- Impact measurement.
Since 2011, The Civic 50 has provided a national standard for superior corporate citizenship and has showcased how companies use their time, skills, and other resources to drive social impact in their business and community.
“Philadelphia Foundation is proud to recognize Nolan Painting’s outstanding civic engagement,” said Pedro Ramos, President and Chief Executive Officer of Philadelphia Foundation. “All of the 2023 honorees have demonstrated great passion and dedication to making a meaningful impact in the local communities they serve. It is this type of commitment that resonates throughout a region and sets the standard for corporate stewardship. We thank Nolan Painting for their efforts and congratulate them on this exciting honor.”
The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honorees were officially recognized on Thursday, June 22, at a celebratory event at the FS Investment Corporate Headquarters located in Philadelphia, PA.
The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia assessment is administered by True Impact, a company specializing in helping organizations maximize and measure their social and business value and consists of quantitative and multiple-choice questions that inform the scoring process.
